More than 220 of Northern NSW’s most promising young female footballers are set to compete in the annual State Skill Acquisition Program (SAP) Championship in Coffs Harbour next week.

Kicking off on Wednesday 3 October to Friday 5 October, 15 teams from across Northern NSW will compete in two age divisions – 12 Years and 14 Years.

The tournament is just one of NNSWF’s major competitions that have been conducted at C.ex International Stadium for the year. NNSWF Westfield National Youth Championship for Girls was previously played in July, and most recently the FFA National Youth Championship for Boys and NNSWF’s inaugural Champion of Champions the following week in October.

NNSWF Technical Director Michael Browne is looking forward to witnessing the talent that will be displayed across the three-day tournament.

“The SAP State Championships for Girls is always played at a high level and is always popular to watch,” Browne said.

“The teams involved all play against each other over the three days and the format allows coaches to evaluate their players and themselves against others teams within the Skill Acquisition Program.

“During the tournament, we will also be identifying players who may have the potential to play for the Newcastle Jets Academy and possibly represent Northern NSW at Girls Nationals in 2019.

“For some of the players the event is a highlight for their football careers, and every player participating should be proud of their achievements of representing their region at the event” Browne concluded.

The first of 49 matches will commence at 8:30 am on Wednesday, 3 October at C.ex International Stadium, Coffs Harbour.

Hunter Valley Football will kick their campaign off in the 12 Years at 11:15 am against NNSW Select SAP and in the 14 Years will take on Adamstown Rosebud JFC at 9:25 am.

The presentation ceremony for the Championships will take place at 2 pm, Friday 5 October.
