Northern NSW Football have Selected Two Teams for National U12 SAP Festival

February 20th, 2020

Northern NSW Football is pleased to announce two squads to compete in the upcoming National U12 SAP Festival.

Twenty-Two (22) talented football players have been selected to compete in the National U12 SAP Festival to be held for 3 days in Devonport, Tasmania from 21 February 2020.

Since 2012, Football Tasmania (FT) has hosted the annual National SAP Festival that has attracting players and teams from across the right across country.

With the support of the Devonport City Council and local National Premier League(NPL) club, Devonport Strikers FC, the Festival provides opportunities for players in the latter part of the Skill Acquisition Phase of development (U12’s) to meet and play prior to the commencement of their respective league seasons in their home States or Territories.

The NNSWF squads consists of young talented players from throughout the Hunter Region who were selected based on their performance and development throughout 2019 and during the initial phase of NNSWF’s Skill Development Program and Club/Zone SAP programs throughout in 2019 and 2020.

Participation in the tournament serves to provide valuable experience for players and coaching staff to benchmark their development against other talented players from across the nation.

NNSWF Head of Football Development Peter Haynes is looking forward to the opportunity it will bring for the players.

“NNSWF has provided the opportunity for talented young players to compete at the National SAP Festival for a number of years and it has also become an important part of the calendar from a Talent ID perspective.”

“It is a rare opportunity for young talented players to compete against other teams and programs from other areas of the country.” Haynes said.

The two squads will compete in 13 games between them over the 3-day tournament, against a variety of teams from different states, clubs and programs.
