Northern NSW Football Announces First Intake to Inaugural Youth Referee Academy

November 28th, 2019

Fourteen (14) young referees have been accepted into Northern NSW Football’s (NNSWF) inaugural Youth Referee Academy for season 2020.

The Academy was developed to provide further training to talented young referees wanting to further their match official career at a National level.

NNSWF Senior Officer – Match Official Administration and Development, Brad Carlin said the formation of the Academy will allow young referees from all across all Northern NSW who have officiated at Talented Official Program (TOP) Camps and Champion of Champions Referee Development Camps to further their skills and fitness.

“The Academy will ultimately allow match officials who have shown promise, to transition into the NNSWF Referee State Talent Pool and put them in good stead for potential selection for the FFA National Championships for Youth and the National Talent Pool,” said Carlin.

During their 12 months in the Academy members will benefit from:

• Exclusive face-to-face education sessions with leading referees, assessors and instructors;

• Interactive web-based education and development sessions to help further build referee knowledge and skills, and

• Fitness training programs and testing that will allow young referees to strive for the fitness levels required by elite match officials.

Congratulations to all fourteen (14) young match officials for their selection, and for their recent performances at the Talented Official Program (TOP) Camps and Champion of Champions Referee Development Camps.
