Northern NSW Football is pleased to announce Singleton Strikers as the May Newcastle Permanent Playmaker Award Winner.
Singleton Strikers Football Club was awarded the Newcastle Permanent Playmaker Award due to its significant contribution to the local community through maintaining a welcome partnership with Singleton Heights Public School, creating the opportunity for students to participate in the game, creating coaching and referee assistance and ultimately leading to the formation of football opportunities for the students.
“Singleton Strikers Football Club has made a significant and valuable contribution to the local community through its successful ongoing involvement of support to the young football talent at Singleton Heights Public School,” NNSWF Community Football Manager Peter Haynes commented.
“We applaud the efforts of Singleton Strikers Football Club Committee, coaches, and players which demonstrate that community is integral to the club’s ethos,” Haynes concluded.
Newcastle Permanent Singleton Mobile Lending Manager, Julianne Cull, echoed Haynes’ sentiments and is pleased a local Singleton club has been rewarded for its efforts.
“Newcastle Permanent is committed to supporting great community initiatives and the Playmaker Award gives us the opportunity to reward clubs for the excellent work they do in their local area, both on and off the field,” Cull said.
The love of our game is continuously growing, it is all because of our playmaker’s contribution and management of the club.
Singleton Strikers Football Club will receive a $250 First Touch Football Supplies voucher to help them purchase anything in their need to assist their club’s growth.

Singleton Strikers Football Club
This year, Singleton Heights Public School has engaged in a new project called Live Life Well at School. The school has trialled a range of measures to promote healthy, active living, including healthy lunch boxes, a packaging-free week, and the installation of water bottle refilling stations. We also know that when students are engaged in a high level of physical activity, there are positive outcomes for learning. As well as daily fitness routines, sport and team games play an important part in the curriculum.
With 600 students enrolled at the school, often we need to use other sporting facilities in Singleton. For many years, the school has utilised the Singleton Strikers’ Howe Park facilities as a venue for sport and team games. The Singleton Strikers’ Soccer Club has been most supportive of our school in providing access for changing rooms and toilets and in assisting with field markings and officiating for representative sports games. The grounds and facilities are always very well maintained.
Beyond this, the club has been very helpful for many years in supporting sport and fitness in the school, including
· Providing coaching assistance to school teams
· Providing referees for inter-school matches
· Providing coaching clinics for students enrolled at Singleton Heights
