Local Northern NSW Football (NNSWF) clubs Kotara South FC and Greta Branxton FC will both benefit from My Community Project grants that were recently announced by the NSW Government.
Kotara South FC’s home ground Nesbitt Park, which is also used for netball, athletics and cricket, will be re-surfaced with a more durable grass, catering for the growth of community clubs using the park – a project costing $122,712.
The existing surface of Nesbitt Park is a combination of mixed grasses and weeds. The surface is does not hold up to the high use of multiple sports and, over winter, parts of the field are almost bare soil.
The suburb of Kotara continues to experience an influx of families, in turn increasing the membership of local sporting clubs and schools. These ground improvements will service multiple sports and assist in providing young families access to healthy activities.
Miller Park at East Branxton has received $49,449 to extend its current roof lines to provide all weather comfort for spectators, visitors and participants for both Little Athletics and Football. It will complement the recent concrete viewing areas which Great Branxton Football Club recently self-funded.
NNSWF would like to congratulate all 13 clubs who complied applications to the My Community Project Grant and encourages clubs to continue to applying for grants to upgrade facilities to improve the experience for players and spectators.
NNSWF Senior Officer – Community Football Ross Hicks was pleased with the successful grants.

My Community Project has been made possible by the NSW Generations Fund. The fund helps keep the state’s debt at a sustainable level, while sharing the benefits of its returns with the people of NSW by funding community projects. This fund has resulted in $24.7 million awarded to 248 projects to help improve the wellbeing of people and communities across the State.
