Hunter Valley’s Best Football Talent Descends Upon Coffs Harbour’s New C.ex International Stadium

May 31st, 2019

Hunter Valley’s most talented 11 and 12-year-old male footballers are set to compete in the annual First Touch Football Supplies (FTFS) State SAP Championships in Coffs Harbour.

FTFS are proud to be announced as the new naming rights sponsor for the prestigious event which will be held on Saturday 8th, Sunday 9th and Monday 10th over the June long weekend.

The competition will take place at the newly renovated C.ex International Stadium currently undergoing a $13-million upgrade, where fifteen (15) teams made up from NNSWF’s seven (7) Member Zones will compete for the winning title.

NNSWF Head of Football Development Peter Haynes said the competition is vital in underpinning the development of young players through the implementation of Licensed Skill Acquisition Programs (SAP’s).

“These championships also provide us with the opportunity to identify potential players for future representative squads for Northern NSW Football at upcoming National Championships as well as monitor potential players for future Newcastle Emerging Jets Academy teams,” Haynes said.

NNSWF Technical Advisor Leo Bertos, who will be monitoring the players, is looking forward to witnessing the best players in the region compete across the three-day competition at the fantastic new stadium in Coffs Harbour.

“This is a fantastic weekend of football for both players and spectators involved competing in a different environment to the SAP gala days and weekend games, where players and teams are playing for points, ultimately to try to be the best team in the NNSWF region,” Bertos said.

“I would like to wish everyone the best of luck and I am confident we will see some great matches,” Leo concluded.

The FTFS State SAP Championships for Boys is the first of NNSWF’s major competitions held at the C.ex International Stadium during 2019.

Upcoming competitions include;

> Westfield National Youth Championships for Girls in July

> FTFS State SAP Championships for Girls in September

> FFA National Youth Championships for Boys in October
