Northern NSW Football (NNSWF) is pleased to announce the Newcastle Permanent Volunteers of the Month for July 2017 across the zones.

“Without volunteers such as this month’s winners, our sport simply would not be in the position it currently enjoys,” Community Football Manager, Peter Haynes said.

“Their contribution to their clubs have been key to their club’s ability to provide positive football experiences for all its members.

“I am pleased that NNSWF is able to thank and recognise these volunteers on behalf of the sport,” Haynes concluded.

Each winner will be awarded a certificate recognising their achievement, volunteer jacket, and bag, courtesy of Newcastle Permanent, to assist in fulfilling their valuable roles at their respective clubs.

From the pool of monthly winners, a “Newcastle Permanent Volunteer of the Year” for each Zone will be recognised at the Northern NSW Football Annual Awards Night.

Newcastle Permanent Chief Executive Officer Terry Millett echoes Haynes sentiments and applauds the volunteers who received the award.

“We are delighted that a local volunteer has received this award and been recognised across Northern NSW for the incredible commitment they make to community football,” Millett said.

The July Newcastle Permanent Volunteer of the Month Award recipients from across each of its seven Member Zones are as follows:

Football Far North Coast

Kerry Northcott

Byron Bay FC

Kerry has been a stalwart of BBFC for many years. She is passionate about female football and has been actively involved with both junior, senior and girls quick-kicks activities. She organised a female junior GALA day this year as an example of her passion. Kerry is a player, club volunteer in a range of roles and has been the only common link between Byron BAY FC and FFNC in the past 10 years. BBFC has nominated Kerry for a Dedication Award this season and while she is a candidate for that award, this would be a worthy recognition.

FMNC VOM July Sandy Williams

Sandy Williams

Hallidays Point Sports Club

Football Mid North Coast

Sandy has only just recently taken on an ‘official title’ within our club.

For the past few years, she has supported every person holding a role in our club and attended every meeting held, even though she’s had no official title. Sandy has such a passion for football and is obvious to every person who knows her and has become well known within our community as ‘the person to contact regarding soccer’.

Just some of the things she does: organised and promoted our club’s fundraising efforts, rounded up volunteers for BBQ’s and markets days, coordinated our fortnightly raffles at the local tavern, been present at every home day hubs or “big” days at our home field and sought volunteers for the canteen, ensured the canteens always stocked, promoted participation by our junior teams in gala days, promoted our club (and football in general) through being an admin of the Facebook page, attended most zone meetings (on behalf of the President) and reported back to the committee, organised club hoodies, gathers quotes and orders new equipment, undertakes stock takes of our equipment and maintains a register of this.

Sandy has extended this passion through her involvement with our local small school’s soccer involvement in inter-school games, to ensure there’s transport and refs available so the children can be involved.

HVF VOM Jul Shell Pickering Metford JSC small

Shell Pickering

Metford Junior Soccer Clu

Hunter Valley Football

Where do we start?? Shell works extremely hard here at Metford JSC. Shell is our club secretary and register. Shell has spent most of her time getting everything ready for the 2017 and she does it all to see the smile that the kids get when they come to training and on game day. This is Shell’s first year on the committee but she has helped out over the past few years with running some of our big events including Pink Day, Presentation Day’s and many more. Even though Shell hasn’t had the greatest couple of years with her health she always comes back with a smile and a great attitude. We at Metford would be lost without Shell and we are all extremely lucky to have her on our team.

MF VOM July Trish Oakes West Wallsend JSC small

Trish Oakes

West Wallsend Junior Football Club

Macquarie Football

Trish has taken on many roles beyond registration of our players and they include the following:

-A major role in sourcing sponsors for the club

-Also a major role in our club fundraiser organising raffle tickets, performers, food and prizes

-Coordination of all home games helpers, food & drink stock, referees, ground set up as well as working the canteen all day.

-Running the canteen on Sundays for our Women’s team

-Hosting committee meetings

-Coordinating the banking of all takings and expenses

-Stocktake of training equipment and reordering as required

-Stocktake of playing jerseys and reorder as required

-Selection and ordering of trophies

-Organisation of team photos

-Organisation of end of year presentation.

It is obvious that Trish is the backbone of our club and a most deserved recipient of some recognition from our players, our parents, our club and the football federation.

NF VOM July Zoey McCauley small

Zoey McCauley

Fletcher Football Club

Newcastle Football

Zoey is tireless in her efforts to make sure the set up for the canteen at the home ground is running smoothly.

In addition to this, she also helps out with all other aspects of the club including set up and pack up of everything.

It is not unusual for Zoey to spend an entire day at the ground … keeping things ticking…

Brett Goodwin

Nambucca Strikers

North Coast Football

Brett is a single father with his own IT business. Brett is the man behind the scenes. Brett has assisted in updating and improving our website. Brett has also been successful in applying for grants and has sought the necessary services to fulfil those grants. Brett also assists in the canteen and has taken photos and video footage of games. Brett used his connections to have a graphic designer assist in the changes to our logo. Brett remains calm and takes on board all of the committee comments and works towards the outcome. Brett works tirelessly for the Club and many would be unaware of the many tasks that he does. Brett is the quiet achiever who has helped our club grow and improve.

Samantha Crebert

Tamworth District Football

Northern Inland Football

Samantha has taken over the role as Canteen Manager, this year. This came about with very short notice and Samantha has stepped up to the plate far beyond anyone’s expectations. Unlike other Districts the majority of Tamworth’s games are played at the Gipp Street complex, this in itself presents a massive task of catering for up to 2,000 players and families on any given Saturday. Samantha is always willing to assist and gives up her time freely and I cannot recommend her highly enough for a volunteer of the month award.
